Location was great, the price not

I stayed in the hotel because I visited ExCel. It was very close, not even 3 minutes to walk to the halls. The bed was clean and comfy.

There were hairs in the bathtube and dirty spots on the floor because people spilled something. It was reaaaaally expensive, but I booked last minute and didn't have another choice (only if I wanted to have a longer way to ExCel).

A superb experience - great care, attention, cleanliness and hospitality

The staff were superb. They accommodated both our needs (anniversary) and the kids need (o2 concert venue and made the stay so enjoyable. They were excellent, chatty and friendly. Lovely to interact with them.

Beautiful hotel, in a beautiful place with awful bathrooms

Hotel in an excellent position, close to Custom House stop on the Elizabeth Line, close to London Excel and 15 minutes from the center.

Our room was with a very uncomfortable solution for the bathroom: a super small WC in a separate room and shower and sink in another room with a door 2 feet close to the bed

Location is great, price was not.

Loved that it was so close to the ExCel. It was also well kept (bar the shower head falling off!).

SO expensive. No discount for the car park even though you pay so much to stop there, a small discount on overly priced breakfast that wasn’t already included in the high amount to stop there. Overall just a really expensive experience.

Would stay again

I liked the reception staff, they was very friendly and well spoken, the gym was very good and clean as well as the rooms they too was clean. Cleaning staff were friendly as well. Room was compfy and nice.

Breakfast staff and dinner staff didnt seem like people persons. Taking order of food could jave been politer, apologies i didnt catch her name

Very friendly reception. They helped us check out train timetables and recommended the best route to take for our journey. We were also upgraded to an executive room which was lovely. Very nicely appointed room, in a good location for the o2 arena

The air conditioning hardly worked.

I was extremely disappointed with your safety and security. I am planning on formally raising this at corporate level. I requested for a duplicate key as I forgot my key in my room. When I asked the receptionist for a key I only stated my room number and she gave me a key, not once did she ask me to confirm my name or any other check. This is not the standard I would expect from Novotel hotels.

Fantastic location for the 02 arena. Great views. Great breakfast selection. Bedroom was very comfortable. We had a great sleep after a very long day sight seeing.

Initially ordered a room with two beds upon arrival we have been told that there is no two beds available and member of Novotel staff made a joke about sleeping in the same bed with my colleague followed by a laugh then he insisted not to mention this to his manager, his attitude was very arrogant and unprofessional, will definitely not be using Novotel again.

Location and staff

Lots of issues with our room. A broken toilet door handle which I only found out about when I locked myself in until my partner got back from a walk and let me out. Nothing was done until the 3rd time of asking. There was pubic hair on the toilet floor from the previous guests, the shower head was filthy and didn't work properly which ended up in a soaking wet room. The most disgusting of all though was the travel cot they offered us for our daughter who is 8 weeks old. There was another child's sick all over it. Not healthy at all. Was offered half price parking for the length of my stay which was £16 and was told there is nothing else they can offer. I've tried to contact novotel directly via email but the online system you use doesn't work so I've not been able to. A clean 1 star property is as good as a dirty 4 star. Save your money Very unhappy

Twin room was a double bed and a sofa! NOT a sofa bed - no mattress. Very uncomfortable and staff unhelpful when I asked for a change or a mattress.

For breakfast, nicely-prepared bacon and several bread options offered the opportunity for very nice bacon rolls.

One-use sleepers would have been very useful. Overall only basic personal care products available in the room

What was the highlight of Novotel London Excel

Pros: check in was a breeze, beautiful view sitting outside eating breakfast, cable cars nearby and places to eat, secure parking right next to property. Lovely, helpful and attentive staff during breakfast service.

Cons: parking is £16 overnight. The breakfast was sub-par (tea awful, sausages pink inside, milk tasted off, pancakes shop bought, - eggs, juice and toast were decent). More Cons: the first room we stayed in had a large cobweb waiting to greet me, upon further inspection there were about 20 tiny spiders in the corners of the room. We were immediately changed and offered two complimentary drinks. The new room had dusty corners (which we cleaned ourselves), the AC was weak and the bedding was not clean. They changed the bedding and gave us a fan. The bed is not the most comfortable (if you like soft mattresses then you will like it). Asked for a refund as we wanted to leave the hotel but the receptionist told us no (after speaking with her manager) and slammed the phone down. The entire hotel could do with a once over with a mop and vaccum and some elbow grease. It has a lot of potential as it’s well designed ...just not clean. Would not stay here again.

Good location, near emirates shuttle service to Greenwich, 10 min from O2, own parking space, refurbished contemporary room, first day very friendly staff who gave an upgrade free of charge to a superior room after we said the family room did not have enough space to work at the desk ( the children's pull out sofa blocked it)

No airconditioning, whereas they mention they do, it is an air cooling system which does not work in hot weather. They tried to accomodate with two vans ( they know the system does not work).At check out in the morning staff in contrast was grumpy and bearly said a word?
